MOTOROLA BABY MONITOR
Baby monitors are an essential parenting tool in today's society, providing a peace of mind to parents all around the world as they go about their busy lives. As a product that is used so often, on a day-to-day basis, its user experience should be top-notch and it should make a parent's job easier. That is the challenge that my two group members set out to solve with this project, receiving mentor-ship along the way from three Artefact designers.
PROJECT BRIEF
CONTRIBUTIONS
We were given a random object at the beginning of the project with the goal of "transforming its poor user experience into something exceptional." I collaborated with my two teammates, a product design student and graphic design, to bring this project to fruition. Through research, we found that users were most frustrated with the product's interface and that its quality did not match the price they paid. We solved this by focusing on two things - to deliver understanding along with information and to create a more modern experience for users. We added a data-tracking feature to our baby monitor that makes it easy to see deviations from the baby's normal activity, and this sets the baby monitor apart from its competition. The process is explained in more detail below
